Swoon: Captive In The Dark by C.J. Roberts

Swoon is a meme featured on Thursdays by YA Bound. From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Captive In the Dark (the Dark Duet #1)
by C.J. Roberts

Revenge was his purpose. She could not understand that, not yet. It would haunt him forever. One more memory among hundreds that always haunted him. Except, he had always been the victim in those memories. Always the boy and not the man. Now, the kind of man he'd become would haunt him too. Caleb slumped against the bathroom door. He needed a minute, to breathe, to keep from retching, and to deal with the jumble of thoughts tearing him apart. For the first time in recent memory, Caleb wanted something other than revenge. He wanted the girl. He wanted Livvie.

Thoughts:
Captive In the Dark is a dark and Twisted novel that is not faint for the heart and my swoon is not sweet kisses and special words. Caleb not only had my heart pounding but was almost in tears. Getting a little inside his head broke my heart. This is the scene where he tells Livvie he is selling her to slavery for his revenge. The after affect she has on him in my eyes was heart wrenching. The reason I picked this as my swoon is because Caleb has only known slavery and revenge. He is basically dead inside with no feelings and seeing him break down because he is now the cause of new haunted memories and for the first time in his life other than revenge he wants Livvie.

    2. I still need to read Seduced In the Dark. I can not wait to get Caleb POV. Getting inside his head in Captive In the Dark broke my heart. It was well done and just enough for me to want his book more.
