Thoughts: The beginning was amazing with the mystery of Lucian sister. Loved how Julia and  Lucian met and once she was brought to the mansion. Lucian was cute flirting with Julia. The banter and bickering with the brothers were so much fun. Not a normal family and they all had their own voice and personality.

 

The beginning had a good balance of mystery, start of a romance and getting to know the family. But somewhere a long the way the romance took over and I was missing the mystery and more of the brothers. As I was connecting and enjoying the couple in the beginning I started getting bored with them and lost that connection.

 

The plot started picking up more the last 15 % of the novel that really came out of no where with a huge twist that was eye rolling, over the top unrealistic. I had my own scenarios going on in my head through out that I was not even close. I did love that it was unpredictable and I really thought one scene was going to go into a whole new direction with Lucian, Gabe and Julia. Thank goodness it did not but felt that scene was out of place and was not sure of the reason for even being in the book.

 

I love Jennifer L. Armentrout  YA Paranormal Romance  Novels and NA novels writing as J. Lynn. She is amazing writer as she was the only author to date to get me to read a YA suspense Don't Look Back and it was amazing 5 stars. It was full of twist, unpredictable,  nicely layered through out and the ending was perfect. This is my 3rd adult book I have read from her and was not a hit with me with the couple.

I have way to many sexy thoughts for Origin Cover right now.  Aside from wanting to slowly take off his jacket and run my hand down his chest (feeling like a cougar at the moment) I am loving Origin's Cover. I find my self loving each new Lux Cover but hands down Origin is the best. Not only do I love shirtless with jeans I freakin love top clothing either open or coming off, showing just enough bare chest. Daemon could still be fully clothed and would love Origin cover. I like the intensity in it with him looking mad and ready to go get Katy. The burning landscape fits perfect with "He'll burn the world to save her".

First off I am a huge fan of Daemon and the Lux Series. Obsidian and Onyx blew me away. It breaks my heart that I do not feel the same way about Opal.

I love where the story line is going with Dawson back home with his family and trying to rescue Bethany. He is not the same since he has been taken away. He was always the fun, spirited sibling, but now back home he is brooding and fits his character well since he needs to get Bethany back. He is having a hard time connecting with his siblings. I loved that he is able to connect with Katy and open up to her. He has a connection with her since she was held captive and had similar stuff done to her in Onyx. She can relate to him.

 

Daemon and Katy are a couple now and was not feeling any tension between them. The spark was missing and even the little hissy fits were resolved too fast and did not leave me saying OMG and have to turn my e-reader fast enough to see if they would be ok. Daemon was still swoon worthy letting Katy know that she has made him want to be different and a better person. So since that is the case was missing his smart mouth attitude. Got a little here and there but not like the old Daemon. His character felt a little off in the beginning as it seems his new favorite word was Awesome.

Was not big on some scenes like Twilight. The Car scene when Daemon and Katy touched hands at the radio was a Twilight Flashback for me. For some reason when they all had to learn to run fast reminded me of Twilight books as well.

 

Overall I did enjoy reading Opal and was hoping at some point it would of got better for me to at least rate it 4 stars - Loved it, but never happened for me. The ending was left in a cliffhanger but did feel like it was already done in one of the other Lux novel and nothing new. It was very predictable. I am still curious how the storyline will play out with the cliffhanger though and look forward to reading Origin (Lux #4)

Team Seth Fans you will not want to miss Pure. Seth in Half-Blood caught my curiosity. Pure started off great and was enjoying Seth’s character. He is very over protective but at the same time showed a gentle, sweet and caring side. But at some point he started to annoy me. He had a smart mouth before and loved that about him but at times in Pure he became obnoxious and his lines were a bit cheesy for me. There are a lot of swoon moments for Seth Fans and if not a Seth Fan before might become one now. As for me I do not know if I like his character or not.

Pure for me lacked the bickering between Aiden, Alex and Seth. There were a few good moments when they go head to head but nothing like Half-Blood. I felt it was too much Seth and not enough Aiden. I really wanted a good mixture of the two. I was annoyed many times when I thought Aiden and Alex would get some book time but nope Seth always seems to pop up and ruin it.

 

There was a bad incident that happens that broke my heart. It was a sad moment I did not see coming. The Council part of the novel for me was drawn out and I got bored easy. It was a lot of politics that I did not mind but wish it was cut back just a little.

 

Alex once again has gotten herself in a mess towards the end. Aiden does something unthinkable that I loved and showed how much he does care for Alex. What he does makes him more swoon worthy than before. I look forward to see how this all plays out in Deity (Covenant #3).

Huge fan of YA novels with Academies and private schools. Excited that Jennifer L. Armentrout has a series with this.

 

Other thing I love to read is forbidden love. Alex has a had crush on Aiden before she left the school. Now she is back and still has feelings for him. Alex is a Half Bood and Aiden is a Pure Blood. Half Boods are not allowed to have any type of romantic relationship with Pure Bloods. I love the tension between Alex and Aiden. Love it when Aiden who is always buy the book with rules try to fight his attraction toward Alex.

 

I loved Alex strong will character and my heart broke for her with having to deal with the issue of her mother. Love her smart mouth and it tends to get her in more trouble. Loved how her character has backbone but it is not over the top. She still has feelings and sometimes does break down like anybody would in her situation.

 

Aiden is for sure a swoon worthy hero. Always there to comfort Alex and get her back on her feet. I love how he is protective of her.

 

The secondary characters Seth, Caleb and Deacon are fun and add so much to the story. Love the best friend relationship with Caleb and Alex. Deacon who is Aiden’s younger brother I adore and hope to see more of him in future novels.

 

Half Blood had an awesome twist I did not see coming. It was nice that it was halfway through. The ending was not a cliffhanger but it broke my heart a little and at the same time put a smile on my face. I look forward to continuing the series and see how everything will play out.

I loved Obsidian, but Jennifer L. Armentrout out did her self with Onyx. Onyx has distrust, betrayal, sadness, happiness, edge of your seat action, jealousy, a lot of surprises, and it is more steamy.

Things between Daemon and Katy are a bit different. She has strong feelings for Daemon as he does for her. But she does not know if his feelings for her are real, because of the way he treated her badly when they first met and then he saved her in Obsidian and now she does not know if it is the connection between them that he is feeling or is it his true feelings. Now there is a new kid, Blake in school and is paying attention to Katy. She wants to put all the alien mojo behind her as much as she can and wants to be normal and date a normal guy. But things are not what they all seemed to be.

Daemon is still just Daemon. I loved how he finds out all Katy wants is to be wooed liked a normal girl. He definitely woos her and of course he loves a challenge. He makes it his mission to show her his feelings for her are real and not because of the connection they have now. You definetly see a jealous and over protective side of him when  Blake starts paying attention to Katy.

There are tons of fun, cute and steamy scenes that are highlighted worthy. Daemon does and I mean does make it his mission to woo Katy. Loved how he brought her a rose too school...*Sigh*. Of course loving the Reindeer Sock and book video scene. All the scenes with Blake are definitely fun. Daemon is still the smartass and even funnier when jealous. Oh boy Daemon knows how to kick ass when any harm is done to Katy. Loved how he would never call him Blake, every other name that starts with a *B* but not Blake. In Obsidian I loved how he was always poking Katy in the back with his pen in class, yeah still got some of those adorable scenes.

I was missing Dee and her friendship with Katy. I love Dee’s character but she is not in as much as in Obsidian.

Enjoyed how Onyx is showing more and more on The DOD and Arums. They are creepier and just evil.

Towards the end is intense and a nail biter. Things happen that I was not sure if ever can be fixed. At one point I was afraid to turn my kindle. I was not sure if it was going to end a cliffhanger, but to my surprise the story kept going and got to see a different side of Daemon. Daemon is still swoon worthy and more in Onyx.

I love good cliffhangers but did not get it in Onyx and I was fine with that because Jennifer L. Armentrout has a way of ending her novels that you still want more now. Kudos to Jennifer for not making us wait a year for Opal (Lux #3). Still have to wait till December but hey I will take that than like some authors who can take up to a year before the next in a series is released. I look forward to see where Jennifer takes us in Opal. The Lux series is a keeper for me as one day would love to read it from the beginning and back to back.

If you have not read Shadow yet it is a must to really get a better feel on Onyx. There are things that happen in Onyx that will be so much better if read Shadow before it. In my opinion I would read Obsidian, Shadows then Onyx. Save a day of just reading when read Onyx. It is hard to put down and you will forget everything and everyone.

I was so happy I started Obsidian first before reading Shadows. In Obsidian you know that Daemon and Dee’s twin brother Dawson and his girlfriend Bethany were killed. It was nice to see what Dawson was like and get his story leading to his death.

 

I loved Shadows just as much as I loved Obsidian. Dawson is the sweet brother. I felt so bad for him because the girl Bethany he falls in love with is human. Since he is an alien he has to be mated with his own kind. The reason for this is because the woman of his kind are rare and they need to breed. Dawson is drawn to Bethany right from the beginning and can not stay away from her. Their lives change from a simple kiss. He lost all control over his body with that simple kiss and with out thinking shows her the real Dawson. Now his mark is on her for his kind to see her. The others in his group are not happy about this incident especially Daemon. Who I adore and he was still a smart mouth when ticked off in Shadows as he is in Obsidian. Love it when Daemon gets mad and mouthy.

 

What if I can’t?” he asked, looking away when Daemon scowled.

 

His brother swore. “Are you kidding me? It’s not hard. You. Stay. Away. From. Her.”

 

As if it were that easy. Daemon didn’t get it. “But she’s glowing right now. Nothing serious, but there’s an Arum around, and she’s not safe.”

 

“You probably should have thought about that before you Lite-Brited her ass.

 

Dawson does not care that his and Bethany relationship is out in the open with his family and friends. The only thing he cares about is protecting her. It does bother him that he marked her and her life is in danger because of him. Loved when he took action and warned Andrew to stay away from Bethany. Very intense moment with an alien temper hottie hero. Totally freakin loved it when he told Ash to stay away from Daemon that he can do better.

 

It is nice to see what made Daemon the way he is in Obsidian. You understand more why he was a jerk to Katy in the beginning. Why he can not and does not want to fall in love with a human. The love and protectiveness he has for his family is sweet. In Obsidian you see his over protectiveness towards Dee. I thought it was because he lost Dawson and did not want to lose his only family he has left. But reading Shadows you still see he is over protective of Dawson and Dee.

 

What I loved most about Shadows was seeing how Dawson, Daemon and Dee were like as a family before Dawson’s death. They were a happy, loving and fun family. Great sibling moment was when Dawson was in a good mood after meeting Bethany and actually washed his dish.

 

“What” he demanded.

 

“Did you just... Clean a dish? Dee backed away slowly, blinking. She glanced at Daemon. “The world is going to end. And I’m still a vir-”

 

“No!” both brothers yelled in unison.

 

Daemon looked like he was actually going to vomit. “Jesus, don’t ever finish that statement. Actually, don’t ever change that. Thank you.”

 

The ending left me wondering if Bethany and Dawson are dead. Or were they taken away or even did they run away. I want more of them. Their time together was very short and deserve to be together for many years. I would love to see more fun, happy and loving family times with Dawson, Daemon and Dee.

 

Shadows was a bonus for me after reading Obsidian. So if new to this series really start with Obsidian first. You will appreciate and enjoy Shadows so much more.

It has been ages since I read a good book and series about hot aliens. Jennifer L. Armentrout did not disappoint in this department. The action is kick butt, characters all have their own voice, and the romance is rocky but also can be sweet. The characters stay the same through out the book and the writing is smooth. Once you start reading Obsidian, it is hard to put down. I am officially hooked on Daemon, Kat and the Lux series.

Have you ever started a series and enjoyed the first book so much you wanted it to be turned into a TV show? Obsidian is that book and Lux is that series I would love to get excited about every week. Who wouldn’t want to see Daemon and Katy from the covers on TV. Especially the drool worthy Daemon.

Daemon the hero starts off as a jerk in the beginning, but he does have his reasons. I was fine with him being a jerk in the beginning once I found out what made him this way. He is what I love in a hero, swoon worthy, arrogant, overconfident, protective, loving and sweet. Boy is he a smart mouth. Never a boring moment with him.

Katy the heroine usually keeps to herself , loves to read and blog about her books she has read. But she can hold her own, especially when it comes to Daemon, her hot neighbor. She has no problem giving it right back to Daemon and his smart mouth.

　

Wow! Jennifer L. Armentrout knows how to write some steamy, teasing scenes. Daemon and Katy has amazing chemistry right from the beginning. It is not love at first site. Their relationship slowly builds over time with them both having feelings for each other, but both have their reasons for not acting on them. When they start moving forward with their relationship something happens that Katy does not know if Daemon’s feelings for her are real or because of the incident that happened. She also can not forgive him for being a jerk when they first met. Their bickering moments are fun and never boring.

“Stalking me again, I see. Do I need to get a restraining order?”

“In you dreams, Kitten.” He smirked. “Oh wait, I’m already starring in those, aren’t I?”

“Nightmares, Daemon, Nightmares.”

I loved when they were in class together, he is always poking her in the back with his pen to get her attention. Look forward to their class day to see if he was going to poke her with his pen and what he was going to say. Never disappointed me. When being playful he will call her Kitten, which annoys her, but when he is being serious he calls her Kat.

The secondary characters are just as fun as Daemon and Katy. Especially Dee, Daemon’s sister. Her and Katy’s friendship is so much fun to read about. I love the fact that Katy will not end their friendship in the beginning because Daemon wants her too. Dee is a loveable character that everyone would love to have her as a friend.

Obsidian and the Lux series is not to be missed by any YA paranormal romance fan. I highly recommend this book and series. After reading Obsidian it will leave you wanting more of Daemon and Katy. This is a series I could read on and on and never get bored with Daemon and Katy.
