Epilogue (The Dark Duet #3)
by C.J. Roberts

BOOK 3 OF THE DARK DUET
(The final version should have 15 Chapters + an epilogue)

I’m writing this because you begged. You know how I love the begging. In fact, you probably know too many things and know them far too well.

Who am I?

Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I was a whore in my youth, a killer since my adolescence, and a monster as a man. I am the man who kidnapped Livvie. I am the man who held her in a dark room for weeks. But, most importantly, I am the man she loves.

She loves me. It’s quite sick, isn’t it?

Of course, there’s more to our story than can be surmised in a few short sentences, but I’m at a loss for justifying my behavior back then. I assume if you’re reading this, I don’t need to make those justifications. You’ve already made your own.

You’re reading this because you want to know about the rest of the story. You want to know what happened that warm summer night in September of 2010, the night I met Livvie at The Paseo. It was the night my life changed all over again.

It didn’t happen exactly as Livvie said. She’s been very kind to me in the retelling of our story. The truth is far more…complicated.

Why:
Since reading Captive In the Dark  (The Dark Duet #1) I am hooked on Caleb. This series is dark, twisted with dubious consent and not for the faint of heart and I freakin' love it. Well in book 1 we get inside Caleb's head  just enough to want more of his thoughts.  Love Caleb's cover has it portrays his sexiness (yes I am twisted and find him yummy) with scars on his back. I want to caress his biceps and lick his scars. Soon Caleb I will be reading more of you in Seduced In the dark (The Dark Duet #2) and Epilogue.

Blurb by Goodreads

Enter the world of the highly-acclaimed Experiment in Terror Series by visiting...the Darkhouse:

There’s always been something a bit off about Perry Palomino. Though she’s been dealing with a quarter-life crisis and post-college syndrome like any other twenty-something, she’s still not what you would call “ordinary.” For one thing, there’s her past which she likes to pretend never happened, and then there’s the fact that she sees ghosts.

Luckily for her, that all comes in handy when she stumbles across Dex Foray, an eccentric producer for an upcoming webcast on ghost hunters. Even though the show’s budget is non-existent and Dex himself is a maddening enigma, Perry is instantly drawn into a world that both threatens her life and seduces her with a sense of importance. Her uncle’s haunted lighthouse provides the perfect catalyst and backdrop for a mystery that unravels the threads of Perry’s fragile sanity and causes her to fall for a man, who, like the most dangerous of ghosts, may not be all that he seems.

Swoon: Captive In The Dark by C.J. Roberts

Swoon is a meme featured on Thursdays by YA Bound. From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Captive In the Dark (the Dark Duet #1)
by C.J. Roberts

Revenge was his purpose. She could not understand that, not yet. It would haunt him forever. One more memory among hundreds that always haunted him. Except, he had always been the victim in those memories. Always the boy and not the man. Now, the kind of man he'd become would haunt him too. Caleb slumped against the bathroom door. He needed a minute, to breathe, to keep from retching, and to deal with the jumble of thoughts tearing him apart. For the first time in recent memory, Caleb wanted something other than revenge. He wanted the girl. He wanted Livvie.

Thoughts:
Captive In the Dark is a dark and Twisted novel that is not faint for the heart and my swoon is not sweet kisses and special words. Caleb not only had my heart pounding but was almost in tears. Getting a little inside his head broke my heart. This is the scene where he tells Livvie he is selling her to slavery for his revenge. The after affect she has on him in my eyes was heart wrenching. The reason I picked this as my swoon is because Caleb has only known slavery and revenge. He is basically dead inside with no feelings and seeing him break down because he is now the cause of new haunted memories and for the first time in his life other than revenge he wants Livvie.

Review: Temptress by Lola Dodge

Temptress (Manhattan Ten #1)
by Lola Dodge
Purchase Links: Amazon  Barnes & Noble

Blurb by Goodreads

Kiss your powers goodbye.

Kidnapping a super-powered suspected felon from a Vegas bachelor party is another day at the office for Jenny Ray, alias Temptress. With one kiss, any naughty supe’s powers are hers. Except this time she’s caught by her mark’s boss, who’s no ordinary superhero.

It’s Thinktank, leader of the toughest hero crew around. One destroyed men’s room and near-toilet-drowning later, Jenny’s forced to steal an innocent hero’s powers.

For a super brain, Tank’s feeling pretty idiotic. First, he let Jenny close enough to get to him. Second, he’s helpless against the tide of desire that rises in him every time he kisses her. Which he’s doing a lot, since she’s trying to give him back his power—only it’s not working. As he shadows her on her various freelance casino security jobs, he realizes she’s no she-demon—she’s a time bomb. Her acquired powers are shredding her, body and soul.

As they give in to desire, a shadowy figure from Jenny’s past surfaces with a kidnapping plan of his own. Jenny will do anything—even level Las Vegas—to rescue the man she loves. But there may not be anything left of her when the dust settles.

Warning: Contains high-stakes poker, high-end cocktails, and high-flying over Las Vegas skies. Never drink and fly!

I am a huge fan of Superhero movies like X-Men, The Avengers, Fantastic Four and was excited to find a Paranormal series with yummy Superheroes.

Temptress is a fun, quick read with a smidge of romance. While Temptress is trying to give ThinkTank his powers back by kissing him every time and having to spend time together until his powers are back they are slowly falling for each other. The action, nice build up to their romance worked well for me. There was not an actual love scene but a different kind of sexy fore play scene that got me hot and bothered. Loved that they were both Superheroes but deep down just ordinary people dealing with everyday life and loved that they got to see not only their superhero side but their inner side as well.

The best part of the novel is that The Manhattan Ten is known in the world with no secret identity. Only got a little bit of here and there on the rest of the Manhattan Ten crew but it was enough to get me interested in them more. Love that they all have their own voice and different personalities. Now hooked on Manhattan Ten, had to buy Panther’s story in Ivory (Manhattan Ten #2) to see how he got to his Bachelor Party. The first two novels are out of order (reason on authors blog) but that did not take away from Temptress and Tanks story.

Omega Mine (Alpha and Omega #1)
by Aline Hunter

"Do you have any idea what that scent does to me?" His voice changed, so throaty the vowels were distorted. "It drives me mad smelling you, knowing your cunt is dripping wet and hot as hell. If it were possible I'd go down on you at the same time I fucked you. That way I could taste your cream when you came around my cock."

She groaned when he rolled his hips again, sending shivers of heat spiraling through her veins. "Do you want this?" His shaft nudged the mouth of her pussy and she gasped, unable to look away from his eyes as the irises changed from green to silver. "Do you want to know what it feels like to have me inside you?

My Thoughts:
I just creamed my panties from Diskant Black dirty-talking mouth.  Yes! Yes! to both his questions. I have had this in my Nook forever, can not believe I am just now getting around to reading The Alpha and Omega series. Loving it.

There’s optimistic. And there’s Jesse Walker.

If he wasn’t so charming, his sunny disposition and incessant grin would get annoying. Fast.

Falling in love with the girl who had at first seemed immune to it, was the best thing to happen to Jesse since the Walkers adopted him into their family when he was five. But loving the girl who has her fair share of secrets is about as easy as that same girl loving the boy who seems to have none.

As Jesse’s life continues at the ranch, and Rowen begins making her mark in the Seattle art community, they begin to wonder where the middle ground is. Or if there even is one.

As push comes to shove and choices aren’t only needing to be made, but forced to be made, Jesse and Rowen have to face what their lives might look like without the other.

Can two people with such tragic pasts and different presents, go on to expect a promising future? Whatever the answer, they’ll need a lot more than love to make it.

Why:
I loved Lost and Found (Lost and Found #1) cover and blurb, have it on my wish list. Near and Far is more sexier. Yummy shirtless hero, sexy heroine. I love the  font and torn black background in different directions.

Have you read  Lost and Found series? What do you think of my pick this week?

Review: Delicate Freakn' Flower by Eve Langlais

Delicate Freakn' Flower (Freakn' Shifters #1)
by Eve Langlais

Blurb by Goodreads

Dammit , just how many toes was she going to have to stomp on before people realized she was a delicate freakin’ flower?

Naomi doesn’t want to follow tradition and settle down with a violence-loving, chest thumping shapeshifter. She grew up in a household with five, testosterone laden brothers where none of the dishes ever matched, the ugly-as-sin furniture could withstand any catastrophe, and where crazy glue was bought by the case.

When fate—with a snicker—makes her meet not one, but two mates, Naomi digs her heels in and refuses to do what her wolf—and her body—demands. No way is she voluntarily allowing herself to get hitched to a pair of dumbass—totally hot and muscled—lacrosse players.

Can Ethan, the towering Kodiak bear, and Javier, the sexy, tanned jaguar convince this she-wolf that life with them won’t be all chaos? And can this delicate freakn’ flower unbend her prejudices enough to recognize she needs a pair of men who can handle her thorns—and her passion?

Warning: this is a hot threesome story where all the focus is on her with pleasurable consequences.

I liked Bunny and The Bear by Eve Langlais but could not get into Delicate Freakn’ Flower. I could not connect with the heroes or heroine. For me the heroine was over the top snippy. I love a good strong will heroine that can hold her own and if they happen to be over the top usually the hero I will end up falling for and make me either like or love their story. Unfortunately that did not happen for me in Delicate Freakn’ Flower. The heroes were a little too corny for me. I received this copy for free when Amazon was having a special and bummed I could not get into it. When I am in the mood for a quick, fun, easy read I will stick with Furry United Coalition series by Eve Langlais.
