It has been since July 2012 I have read The Burn List by Julia Devlin and it was 5 stars so freakin amazing that I still think about Lukas. I started crushing on Lukas by Chapter 3 and 6 months later still crushing on him.  The Burn List is a keeper for me.

 

Really it should be  a law that everyone have a least one sexy neighbor who is sweet and sexy. OK maybe not. I would so be in trouble. Ha..ha...I  would be one of those crazy neighbors with the binoculars watching him mow his grass.

I really had mixed feelings about this novel. Rated it 3 stars liked it only because of a few issues I had. But  when it was good, oh boy was it good. This was my favorite part. One of the issues I had was twice Ethan liked to use slut during his dirty talking moments with Violet but she loved it and worked for her, me not so much.  As I find the more I read erotic novels that at times have a Dom the usage of the slut word is popular during sex scenes.  I fell in love with Julia Devlin writing voice and story telling after reading another novel. Lets just say Ethan is good on his word. 

“When I reach you-and make no mistake-I will.” He paced one step forward. She mirrored him keeping the distance between them. “I’m going to throw you over my shoulder, take you into the alley, and I’m going to spank your ass until it’s bright red. Then I’m going to fuck you. So be ready.”

I have read some amazing books this year and yes like for everyone it was hard to pick just 3.  My picks of most sexy heroes were the ones  that still made me think about them for days after reading their books.

I love how he is always curling his hands around her neck, tracing his thumb on her bottom lip and putting his forehead against hers.  This teaser by chapter 2  had me all hot and bothered and found him sexy as sin.

Silver -  This was my last Masters of the Shadowlands book I read.  It seems like with every new book I read in the series I am loving that hero. So for now Nolan takes the Silver.   Nolan is a sweet and sexy Dom.  I love how he was always kissing Beth on the lips like they were a couple. He is a gentleman holding out chairs for her. He was fun and playful in and outside the club.  He even made his punishments in the Club freakin sexy... Nolan baby you can put me up on the Bar naked anytime and punish me.

Gold - Firelight is the best book I have read this year.  I have not read Moonglow yet so Archer is taking the Gold. He is beautiful, fun,  sweet and sexy.  Archer had me from his 1st meeting with Miranda.  Then I just wanted him more through out the book.

Kristen Callihan has a beautiful writing voice that I felt I was right there throughout the book.

Ok really how can he not win the Gold over this teaser... *Sigh*

A Whole New Light is short sexy and to the point. It starts off with Ethan at Violet’s house for a party. He has decided he is tired of being her friend and wants more but knows that he is not her type. He is a Dom and she does not seem like a submissive. The party scene was fun and cute. Poor Ethan kept having naughty thoughts of Violet and would talk to himself.

If you want to know my scene let me take you into your bedroom, tie you up and smack that delectable ass until you beg for me. He smiled back. “You throw a great party.”

That night he is ready to call off their friendship, until he takes a bathroom break before leaving the party and finds a box hiding her secrets. Now he knows her secret of wanting to be submissive and will give her what he and her both want. Next day at work he acts different, showing her the real side of him, his dominate side. She is having a hard time understanding his change but at the same time it is making her hot and bothered. She flees to her office and that is when Ethan starts with his Alpha Male attitude. He starts Instant Messaging her. Love those messages he sends her. By Chapter 3 is when he had me head over heals for him with one little message.

Ethan Sage: Be forewarned, you don’t have long until I come get you.

Violet is sweet but deep down inside she wants to be submissive. She has a hard time understanding how she can be like this. While the sex club is Sexy-As-Sin it is also sweet with Ethan letting her know if she does not want to go through trying her hand at being submissive then she does not have to. Loved how Ethan is always nipping Violet’s ear, nibbling on her lip and stroking her back. There is something sexy when the hero bites the heroine lower lip.

“All right then.” He leaned down over the table and to her surprise, his strong , white teeth sank into the flesh of her lower lip.

Violet does not always give in easy to Ethan especially when he pisses her off. He has his limits when she provokes him while they are fighting OMG... The alley scene is a scorcher. I freakin love it when the hero talks dirty when he loses a little control.

The only thing I did not enjoy was that Ethan twice used the word Slut during his dirty talking moments. She enjoyed it and it turned her on. But for me it was a big turn off.

We meet Master Caleb as he is doing a scene for Ethan and Violet at the sex club. Master Caleb is a sexy Dom with kickass tattoos and can use a whip like a pro. He literally can whip off shirt buttons with out even touching the skin. The only thing I did not like was when he used the word “Slut” while doing a scene. I am hoping this is a series because I am curious about Caleb and what woman can bring him to his knees. He seems like a Dom that likes it raw and rough. Since we only get to see him during a sex scene and he was a very blunt dirty talker. I am curious if he would caress his lover, nibble her bottom lip when kissing her and nip at her ear while saying naughty things to her.

This was my second novel by Julia Devlin and will not be my last. I loved the first book I read by her, The Burn List and gave it 5 stars. I really wanted to give this one 5 stars, but  I think the scene in the club was a little too long and wish another scene could of been added. You do feel their chemistry together and good background how they have been friends but I wanted more time of them together with their relationship then just one night in a sex club, the alley and the epilogue. I also did not care for the usage of the word “Slut” during their steamy moments. I do love reading BDSM books but love them more when they are well written. I will continue to read her books, she is a talented erotic writer with yummy heroes and sexy scenes.

If you do not mind a quick read with all kinds of dirty talking then I would recommend this novel. If you have never read any of Julia Delvin books before I would start with The Burn List. It is 105 pages and a excellent read.

Have you ever read a book where the hero is so freakin sexy and sweet that you could not stop thinking about him for days. Well that hero is Lukas for me. I want  a sexy neighbor like Lukas to wish me a happy birthday and ask for my sexual-to-do-list that he would happily oblige.

Lukas has feelings for Abby but he keeps them inside because he knows she is too innocent for him. He is dominate with his lovers and thinks Abby would only do vanilla sex. When Abby comes over drunk and starts making passes at him, his only thought is to scare her away with his dominance. Poor Lukas really thought he could scare Abby away with telling her to put together a sexual-to-do-list by morning. And if she did come up with a list he would be the one to make all her sexual fantasies on her list come true. This is where the story gets awesome!

Lukas baby you had me here by Chapter 2.

There is more to this erotic novel than just scorching sex. Which they are some *need-to-stick-my-head-in-the-freezer* sex scenes. The restaurant and the alley scenes are STEAMY. Their chemistry together is HOT. The characters are so real with their feelings. They act like they are in a relationship while they are playing out her fantasies. He takes her to dinner and to meet his fireman buddies. He is not the only one who takes the initiative to playing out her fantasies. She also takes it upon herself to help with her list. Great scene is when she visited his work at the fire station....OMG that scene is hot, fun and sweet.

 I am a sucker for heroes who show a lot of affection by always caressing his lovers. I love how he is always curling his hands around her neck, tracing his thumb on her bottom lip and putting his forehead against hers. It is even better because he does not want a relationship, but she has him all tied up in knots that he can't keep his hands off her.

He curled a hand around her neck, tracing his thumb along her lower lip. "What are you doing to me?"

"What do you mean?" Her pulse raced, her heart pounding in her chest. Oh, no, was it already the end?

He pressed his forehead to hers. "You're killing me here. I already want you again."

 I enjoyed the journey watching Abby grow from seeing herself as a boring, not so pretty to a beautiful sensual woman. Loved it that it was Lukas that made her see how beautiful she is.

I wish we had more of Lukas fireman buddies, especially Trevor. I am hoping this is a series. I would love to see if and what woman would be able to have him all tied up in knots.

If you are like me who love the theme friends becoming lovers, your heroes who are dominate, dirty talker but who are also sweet, protective and bit possessive then The Burn List is for you. Only if you do not mind some spanking, Oh...and I might add there are tons of sexy spanking going on.

This is my first Julia Devlin novel and will not be my last. I love her writing. She does a beautiful job at writing fun, sweet and erotic scenes that you feel like you are right there getting all hot and bothered, panting right along with the heroine.

I did like A Whole new Light. The sex scenes and Dirty Talking were HOT!!! The only thing I did not enjoy was  that Ethan twice used Slut during his dirty talking moments.

Julia Devlin is a new author for me. I read The Burn List and fell head over heels for Lukas the hero.  OMG finished it Tuesday night and  can't stop thinking about him and his sexy scenes.  Her writing is excellent, heroes are sexy and sweet.  It takes a talented author to write a good erotic romance and Julia Devlin is right up there with other talented erotic authors. Since I can not stop thinking about her writing I am onto another one of her books.  It was very hard to choose because they all sound so good and the excerpts were a wonderful tease. I decided to go with A Whole New Light, since I do love a good book with friends becoming lovers.  If I love this book as much as I did The Burn List be ready for a Wicked Teaser. I do love my sexy teasers.
