Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner—are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Starting the New Year right with a Wicked read and hands down one of the best book couples, Cat and Bones.  Halfway To The Grave has been many re-reads through out the years for me. I can't seem to get enough of Jeaniene Frost writing style and wonderful characters she has brought to life.

I loved that I got a kick butt heroine Cat who is not over the top and a building romance. I still find Halfway To The Grave refreshing and to date I do not think I have found another Paranormal Romance that the main character is a woman. It seems novels with the main character being the heroine tend to be in Urban Fantasy. With Urban Fantasy the romance tend to be not so much and not as hot as romance novels. Jeaniene Frost brought to readers a nice blend. Love that Cat is strong will, a smart mouth but still has her moments of weakness. She is known to act before think and at times kill before ask questions.

Bones rolled his eyes and clapped him on the shoulder. “I’m glad you’re still upright, Charles, and the only reason you are is because she didn’t have any silver. She’d have staked you right and proper otherwise. She has a tendency to shrivel someone first and then introduce herself afterwards.”

Now Bones is a yummy alpha male Vampire that still get's me all giddy with "Hello Kitten".  He is possessive and at times a bit jealous.

“Nice to meet you, mate, and here's some advice: Don't even think about it. You try anything with her and I'll neuter you with my bare hands. ”

Loved his smart remarks with everyone and his sense of humor through out the story.

Bones held me upright. I would have protested, but I couldn’t remember how to. “What are you saying?”

“Winston poltergeisted my panties, that’s what!” I announced with a loud hiccup.

“Why, you scurvy, lecherous spook!” Bones yelled in the direction of the cemetery. “If my pipes still worked, I’d go right back there and piss on your grave!”

Overall Bones is wickedly delicious.

“I can’t wait to find out how you taste, and you won’t want me to stop even after I’ve completely exhausted you. You’ll think you were on fire, your skin will burn. I’ll suck all of your juices out of you. And then I’ll drink your blood.”

Their relationship starts off as friends and he trains her to be a better hunter. Their chemistry is hot and Jeaniene Frost knows how to tease her readers with some yummy scenes. My favorite scenes are the training and of course the bar scene with Crispin. They have to work on their relationship and at times do have to come across some obstacles.  I loved the pacing of their relationship with fun and playful  banter.

"Is that a stake, Bones, or are you just happy with my new dress?”

“In this case, it’s a stake. You could always feel around for something more, though. See what comes up.”

Loved all the secondary characters as they add so much to the storyline. Her mom is a hoot and love the interaction with her, Bones and Cat. Halfway To The Grave is a fun, hot read with a delicious Bones. It will have readers giggling, can not wait to see what happens next, unpredictable and wanting more of Cat and Bones.  Halfway To The Grave is a novel that I wish I can go back and experience for the first time.

Quote-Tastic: At Grave's End by Jeaniene Frost

Quote-Tastic is a meme hold on Mondays by Herding Casts & Burning Soup.  Join them  every Monday and share a favorite quote that's grabbed ya for one reason or another.

Bones and Cat are one of my favorite book couples. Loved it in one scene get a jealous- alpha male Bones and of course "Luv" and "Kitten".

"I've never been jealous before I met you," Bones went on, still in that same soft, menacing tone. "It burns, luv. Like silver through my veins. Some nights, watching you with other men on your jobs, I think it will drive me mad."

His hands were still stroking my legs with a light, scary sensuality that made me want to cringe back-and edge forward at the same time. My whole body seemed to be holding its breath. Despite his outwardly calm demeanor, there was something boiling up in Bones that would break free any moment, I could feel it.

"It was just an act," I said again.

"Oh, I know that," Bones replied at once. Those glittering green eyes met mine. "Tate wouldn't be alive now if it wasn't. I know you only did this to get Hykso, but Kitten." His voice deepened. Hardened. "No matter the cause, don't you dare, ever, let someone handle you in such a way again."

Then, to my surprise, Bones yanked my underwear down............................

My favorite part of the novel "but Kitten." His voice deepened. Hardened. "No matter the cause, don't you dare, ever, let someone handle you in such a way again."

It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield’s life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she’s successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.

As if that wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’s past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself—and Bones—from a fate worse than the grave.

Get Me Off The Shelf: Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost

*Get Me Off The Shelf* was a meme hosted on Thursday's by Sherri's fik*tish*uhs Reviews. The aim of this meme was to showcase books that you own but haven't yet got around to reading.

Hello my name is JoLee and I am a Book-A-Holic. As I am sure you all have tons and tons of books still on your shelves (either it be print or ebook) you have bought but have not read yet. For what ever reason it may be you will still buy more and more books. For me I swear I have ADD/ADHD or something.  Especially since starting my blog and joining NetGalley. Not complaining met amazing new friends and found some new authors I adore now. I have fell behind in authors and series I love to read, but I will still buy them as soon as they come out or a little later. *Get Me Off The Shelf* is to showcase books that I own but have not read yet.

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress series #1)
by Jeaniene Frost

Now Cat will have to choose a side... and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why:
Love Cat and Bones. OMG they are a fun and sexy couple. I love how Bones calls Cat "Kitten" and she is in the beginning  annoyed with it. The Night Huntress series is a great read.
This is a series where it can go on forever and never get boring.  The chemistry between Cat and Bones is HOT!!! Jeanine Frost writing of Cat and Bones sucks you right in.  Their relationship is not always good, but that is what makes these books in even better.
Bones is a sexy Vampire with humor.
“Lucifer's bouncing balls, Kitten, not again!”  (Halfway to the Grave #1)
“You! You tricked me! I never want to see you or that bottle of liquid arsenic again!”
I chucked the empty moonshine jug at him. Or tried to. It missed him by a dozen feet.
He picked it up in astonishment. “You drank the whole bloody thing? You were only supposed to have a few sips!”
“Did you say that? Did you?” He reached me just as I felt the ground tip. “Didn’t say anything. I’ve got those names, so that’s all that matters, but you men…you’re all alike. Alive, dead, undead—all perverts! I had a drunken pervert in my pants! Do you know how unsanitary that is?”
Bones held me upright. I would have protested, but I couldn’t remember how to. “What are you saying?”
“Winston poltergeisted my panties, that’s what!” I announced with a loud hiccup.
“Why, you scurvy, lecherous spook!” Bones yelled in the direction of the cemetery. “If my pipes still worked, I’d go right back there and piss on your grave!”
(Halfway to the Grave #1)
He also can get a little ticked off
“What's bothering me is that you dare to stand there and tell me what I do and do not feel about last night. That kissing you and holding you meant nothing to me. Then, to top it all off, that you were only reacting to me because you were impaired? That's rich. You know what those drugs did to you in the first dose, before the second one made you comatose? They killed the bug up your arse?" said Bones.”  (Halfway to the Grave)
Bones was never jealous of a woman before he met Cat. This is my Fave Quote and what comes after is SMOKING HOT!!! Must read this series to find out.
"It was just an act," I said again.
"Oh, I know that," Bones replied at once. Those glittering green eyes met mine. "Tate wouldn't be alive now if  it wasn't. I know you only did this to get Hykso, but Kitten."  His voice deepened. Hardened. "No matter the cause, don't you dare, ever, let someone handle you in such a way again."  (At Grave's End #3)
Bones is a sexy lover...a little TEASER from the famous CHAPTER 32.   This sex scene is so sexy from start to end.
Something was secured around my wrist, stretching my arm out lengthwise and then restraining it, presumably to the bed frame. The same action was repeated with my other arm.
"Don't fight them," Bones whispered. "They're not strong enough to hold you. Relax." A low chuckle. "Let me work."
Thus shackled, I could only listen as he moved around. It sounded like he was in the bathroom rummaging through the cabinets, for what I had no idea. Being blindfolded and tied naked to a bed was disconcerting, to say the least, but he didn't take long before he returned.
Hands trailed over my shoulders and moved lower to cup by breasts. A mouth closed over my nipple, fangs already extended. He laved the peak with his tongue, and then the flatness of his human teeth nibbled it to hardness. (One Foot in the Grave #2)
Cat is a kick ass.
“Charles,” Bones said distinctly. “You’d better have a splendid explanation for her being on top of you.”
The black-haired vampire rose to his feet as soon as I jumped off, brushing the dirt off his clothes.
“Believe me, mate, I’ve never enjoyed a woman astride me less. I came out to say hello, and this she-devil blinded me by flinging rocks in my eyes. Then she vigorously attempted to split my skull before threatening to impale me with silver if I so much as even
twitched! It’s been a few years since I’ve been to America, but I daresay the method of greeting a person has changed
dramatically!”
Bones rolled his eyes and clapped him on the shoulder. “I’m glad you’re still upright, Charles, and the only reason you are is because she didn’t have any silver. She’d have staked you right and proper otherwise. She has a tendency to shrivel someone first
and then introduce herself afterwards.”
  (Halfway to the Grave #1)
I highly recommend The Night Huntress series to all Paranormal Romance fans. It is so much fun to read about Cat and Bones with their Ups and Downs of their relationship. You will be laughing, crying and fanning your self. What is great about this series is you never know what Jeaniene Frost has in store for you. I also highly recommend to get the 1st editions with the Step back (inside flap of the cover) covers. OMG they are sexy with Cat and Bones on them.
Wicked Wednesday Cover: Halfway to the Grave
Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress Series #1) by Jeaniene Frost cover is edgy & sexy. Cat is a beautiful, sensuous & kick butt Heroine that has these gorgeous legs that a man or woman would love to taste & feel. The cover fits perfect to Cats character as she gradually becomes a captivating & confident woman, because of this I still see the uncertainty in her pose. Not a lot but just enough of her unsureness to become a sexy huntress to lure the bad guys in. Her dress is seductive and her boots are wickedly hot, add in her risque red hair and you have Cat (or how Bones like to call her Kitten) the Night Huntress.
Well done to the artist and model for this cover. Wish I knew who the model is.
