Danger shouldn't be this sexy...

Cougar shifter Abby Carter always plays it safe. That's why she's an accountant--no excitement, no danger, and no cocky alpha males. She loves her quiet life, but fate has other plans. When Abby uncovers the shady dealings of an anti-shifter organization, she'll have to trust the too-sexy-for-her-peace-of-mind werewolf Declan Reed... or end up six feet under.

Declan Reed is starting over. After two years with Shifter Operations Command, it's time to put his past behind him. Now Declan is the only thing standing between the gorgeous Abby and an early grave, and if he's going to have any chance of keeping her alive, he'll have to embrace the darkness he's fought to keep at bay. But first he has to convince Abby that there's no safer place in the world than the arms of a big bad werewolf.

Thoughts: Oh Declan (wolf shifter) you had me the moment you defied orders to go after your mate. I just love a crazy ass alpha male shifter who does not care of the consequences. The slow burn romance was good.
Declan is part of the SHOC (Shifter Operations Command). A group of different shifters enlisted not by choice to help the shifter community. Wow what a group of shifters. Loved that all the secondary characters had their own voice and personality. Play a good role in the book that makes me interested for their stories. They all had some great bickering and fun banter moments that had me smiling.
While I loved the interaction with the secondary characters I did also felt at times it was a little over the top. Sometimes less is better. It almost at times felt childish and was more annoying than fun.
I am thinking this series is more on the fun, kind of quirky side. Celia Kyle is a new to me author and I do want to see how book two plays out.

  1. Oh this looka good. I haven't read a shifter book in a while :)

  2. actually have never heard of this one :D now curious

  3. Sorry this felt childish/annoying at times! But I'm glad you loved the guy and slow burn. I don't think I've ever read a shifter romance. Any 5 star recommendations?

    1. Hi Nicole. Love my Shifters. No really 5 star recommendations. Series that I love are Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh. Love her wolf and Feeline shifters but sometimes not a fan of the Psy part. Leopard People series by Christine Feehan is another favorite of mine. Love her feline shifters but her books tend to go on and on about stuff. Both are talented authors and do research for their books and love that.

  4. I think I've read one of hers ages ago maybe. I do like some fun quirky now and again :)

  5. I do love how this author writes her heroes....badass alpha's hehe Glad this book worked enough to make you want to continue the series.

  6. I like shifter romances and haven't read one if forever. This sounds good but sorry it was annoying at time. I wouldn't have liked that either.
