The winner read for October is

Hidden Talents (Hidden #1)
by Emma Holly

Blurb by Goodreads

Resurrection, NY is America’s only supernatural friendly town, built on an outfolded pocket of Faerie. Werewolf cop Adam Santini is sworn to protect and serve all of Resurrection’s races - including unsuspecting human Talents who wander in from Outside.

Ari stumbles into Adam’s town from the Big Apple. She’s hot on the trail of a mysterious crime boss who wants to exploit her telekinesis for his own evil ends. If she can’t get Henry Blackwater off her back, she and her two most trusted friends in the world had better kiss the decent life they’ve built for themselves goodbye.

Ari’s mission puts her on a collision course with the hottest cop in the RPD. Adam wants Blackwater too, but mostly he wants Ari. She seems to be the mate he’s been yearning for all his life, though getting a former street kid into bed with the Law could be his toughest case to date.

When biology knocks boots with justice, more than bad guys go up flames.

NA Review: Beautiful Broken Rules by Kimberly Lauren

Beautiful Broken Rules (Broken Series #1)

What happens when you create rules to keep others out?

One thing Emerson Moore has come to terms with is that she is the school slut. She knows her way around a frat house and how to get what she wants. She doesn’t make any excuses for her actions and she doesn’t pretend to be anything different. She is who she is and with that she knows how to have a good time. She’s made rules to keep relationships at bay and avoid the demons of her past.

When her best friend, Cole has his two friends from back home move in with him she begins to think she has met her match with Jaxon Riley. Jax is the perfect mixture of tattooed muscle and a sweet-talking mouth. With “hand” written notes, a voice that exudes sex and knowing just how to get under her skin, Jaxon learns how to break all the rules. But will he just end up breaking her heart anyway?

Beautiful Broken Rules is one of those novels that the delicious cover caught my attention first then one thing led to another and boom I was all over it. I did not know what to expect before reading Beautiful Broken Rules as the main character  Emerson has come to terms that she is the school slut. I think I was expecting more of that is what others see her but it was nothing like that at all.

I loved Emerson's character. She is not known as the school slut. As a matter of fact everybody adores her. The guys she has been with know her rules and enjoy being with her. Some of them wish they were the ones to break her rules. Because of her parents she has set rules when it comes to dating. I loved that inside she is a little broken in order to have these rules but she is not one of those whiny broken characters. She is the life of the of the party, fun and outgoing. Kudos to Kimberly Lauren for writing about a  girl heroine who has a good time sexually. Usually it always the heroes have this and it was a nice change.  Loved that  she new what she wanted and stuck to her guns until she met Jaxon.

Jax is the sexy tattoo-biker riding-possessive-alpha male hero who gets inside her heart. Loved his character as he does not push her right away. No insta love here, their time together builds with friendship. Loved the "hand notes" as it adds so much to the novel.  Was even better that Jax has some rules for her too.

It is not all fun and games for them as they do have their moments. Right away I fell in love with Jax and Emerson and their hot chemistry. They were hot-fan yourself in the bedroom.

Kimberly Lauren as found herself a new fan and look forward to reading more in The Broken Series. Fell in love with all the secondary characters and excited Jax twin Jace is up next in Beautiful Broken Mess (Broken #2).

ARC Review: Shooting Scars by Karina Halle

Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2)
Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy #2)

Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.

When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.

Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.

Told in dual POV from Camden and Ellie.

Shooting Scars is Dark, addicting, edge of your seat thrill ride with many twist and turns that I could not swipe my kindle fast enough to see how the ride was going to end.

What I loved most about Shooting Scars was not only was it a dark read with many surprises with lots of twist and turns but I was surprised by how some scenes had me giggling.  There is a huge love triangle in Shooting Scars and loved it. There is the Dark and twisted Javier and the sweet Camden that has a dark side buried deep inside that both want Ellie. I am torn between the two and can not decide if I am Team Javier because, I have a love/hate relationship with him or Team Camden, he is the best for Ellie. These two hate each other.

Javier has many layers and are peeled away little by little through out the story. One moment I am crushing on him and next I want to strangle him. Since starting this series I needed answers about him and Ellie. Wow did I get them and at one point was shocked and could not believe what I was reading and the next I felt bad for him because of the great length he goes through to get revenge.

I loved that the story is also with Camden POV.  It added so much to the story.  Readers really get inside his head and see his inner dark side come out through out the novel. The love he has for Ellie and the great lengths he would go through to make sure she is safe and with him is awesome. Camden is no wimp when it comes to protecting Ellie. He can throw some mean punches and  hold his own with Javier or anyone that stands in his way. Not many people can go head to head with Javier like Ellie and Camden do.

The ending was perfect and I look forward to what Karina Halle has in store for her fans. Should make for a very interesting read.
