Wickedly Delish Thoughts: Detailed Reviews

Hello Lovelies! Wickedly Delish Thoughts is my own little corner on Wickedly Delicious Book Blog for book discussions and more.

I have one-click a few novels and read ASAP based on some well detailed reviews. The reviews were not spoilerish by any means. I did feel that they were so detailed in the plot and certain characters background that when I came across these things I already knew going into the book that it actually kind of ruined it a little for me. They were actually moments that would of been nice to experience without knowing. Some of them could of been "Oh My Gosh" or even "Wow" moments, at least for me they would of been if I have not known already. These moments were not huge by any means but for me they would of been enough to get a reaction from me.

I am not bashing detailed reviews, because if it was not for some of these reviews I might not ever read these books or found new authors. Do not worry this was from Amazon and not blogosphere.

Have you ever read a review that was Spoil Free but so detailed that it still managed to spoil a little or lot of the book for you?

  1. Yes it does occasionally happen for me. Its why most times, unless I have full trust in that reviewer, I read the first and last part of the review. It also depends on what ends up being spoiled. If they lay out everything that happens in the story, than I have difficulties with that.

  2. I think that can happen even in a very quick not so detailed review. I had another blogger really ruin the end of a book for me because she wrote a vague thing about the heroine's ex who wasn't a great guy and as I was reading had what you're saying happen that instead of having an Oo when things were revealed it was more of an oh so this is what she'd talked about. Definitely lessened the impact to see it coming like that :( I tend to just read the bloggers I trust for reviews and even them I know who to read the whole review and who to skip down to their conclusion to see what they think instead of reading the whole review.

    1. Oh yeah that would suck also for a very quick not so detailed review.

  3. I love detailed reviews but it does suck when they spoil too much of the book. I think a little spoiling is expected though. What would we have to talk about if we didn't reveal just little stuff? Though I try to stick with blurb related info.

    1. I agree I think almost every review is a little spoilerish to a certain level. I am fine with that. Love that I do get some insight on the plot and some characters. Some I am glad for becuase it has help choose if I want to read it or not. Mostly for me if stuff about the character or plot is a shocker moment or something I did not see coming about a character background etc. I try my hardest not post about it.

  4. Usually, when I decide to buy a book, I'll check the negative reviews and see what the readers didn't like. It may be spoilerish, but I have such a short memory that by the time I finally got to read the book, I've completely forgotten everything about it, lol ;)

    1. I read negative reviews too as that help to see if we dislike the same things. Usually reviews I have read for most of my TBR are reviews I have read and forgotten too yes I have short memory too lol. But every now and then I search for books on amazon and read reviews and on a whim I one click and read ASAP. That is usually when the spoilerish reviews happen for me.
