HER:
I thought the only thing I feared was living another day in the hell my life had become. But when I looked at his hulking, tattooed body, the icy brutality in his eyes, I realized I was wrong.

HIM:
Familie. My clan.
I’d fight for it, kill for it, die for it. It’s all that matters to me. But her innocence, only barely hidden by thick layers of makeup, the curves that her tight dress can’t hide, calls to me.
So I’ve decided to keep her.
No matter how deadly the consequences.

The delicious cover, the not so detailed blurb and the fact is was also a mafia romance I was all over this book. Sad to say this book was lacking more than it was full filling. It started off strong and promising.

Vasile the hero was a good strong character. You can tell he is naturally a protector. He is also a cold, calculating ruthless man but at the same time he can be gentle. The best part readers are not told this you see results in his actions. I loved his character and the fact that I got to visualize all the hotness from the cover model was delicious.

There is a lack of communication with them as at times she does let her imagination run wild. I was right there  thinking the same stuff as her. He is not for many words so a lot of times the heroine and readers are going base off his actions. This will also lead to some intense moments. Loved that I never knew what was coming next with the characters or plot. Did leave for some edge of your seat moments and loved it.

But even though I had some great scenes I really enjoyed I still felt like overall the book was lacking something. I felt there really needed to be more dialog especially between the main couple. The format the author chose for this book was needed based off the plot she used but because of this I was not able to feel them connecting as a couple. The ending did feel rushed. Some of those amazing intense moments really could been emotional for me if just added some more dialog. I needed to really feel what these characters were  feeling not  only with their actions but some verbal too.

I am always looking for a good Mafia Romance series but sad to say I do not think this will be it. The secondary characters all had their own voices and personalities but really they did not jump off the pages for me to continue.

  1. Ever since I read Jessica Clare's mafia series, I have been really intrigued and been looking for some more good ones. Too bad about this one though!! That can always be disappointing.

    1. I am so bummed I could not get into Hitman Series. I do not know if it was the writers duo of Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick. I know I read a book by JF before and it was not a hit for me as well. Hitman series and JF has some great reviews out. Maybe give it a try.

  2. Sorry it fell short. I think the only Mafia romance I read was KCole's and I didn't like that. I just can't stand virgin hoes!

    1. I loved KColes mafia series. Ok really I only read the first book and loved it. I am not a fan of virgins but they really do not bother me. I still do not know why the heroine can have a sexual life.

  3. Cole's Game Maker series hooked me on the mafia reads and I've been devouring them ever since. Although I do have a problem with some of them because lack of dialogue/communication.

  5. This sounds like a good read even though it lacked dialogue between the characters. A shame it didn't blow you away though.
