HER:
I thought the only thing I feared was living another day in the hell my life had become. But when I looked at his hulking, tattooed body, the icy brutality in his eyes, I realized I was wrong.

HIM:
Familie. My clan.
I’d fight for it, kill for it, die for it. It’s all that matters to me. But her innocence, only barely hidden by thick layers of makeup, the curves that her tight dress can’t hide, calls to me.
So I’ve decided to keep her.
No matter how deadly the consequences.

The delicious cover, the not so detailed blurb and the fact is was also a mafia romance I was all over this book. Sad to say this book was lacking more than it was full filling. It started off strong and promising.

Review: No Mercy by Mary Martel

No Mercy (The Dollhouse #1)
by Mary Martel
Contemporary Romance
Bought

Blurb
Warning: this series is intended for a mature audience. It contains violence, murder, prostitution, foul language, suicide and sexual content.
This is a first part in a series. The books are meant to be read in order.

“Do you know what the funny thing about Mercy is?” Cap asked her. Before she could answer he spoke again, “It can be a cold, hard, unforgiving bitch.”

Duchess runs The Dollhouse. An old, two story mansion she recently purchased in an attempt to create a safe home for herself and her girl Franky, something neither of them have ever had. A safe home is not all The Dollhouse is though. The downstairs is a bar and the upstairs is home to something much seedier. A modern day brothel. A brothel Duchess is the proprietress of.
Duchess is a cold, hard, tough as nails woman with a murky past. Her whole life revolves around taking care of her girls and keeping them safe.
Life at The Dollhouse is irrevocably altered when its sole neighbor, the Mercy MC, strolls through the front doors of the bar.
From that moment on Duchess’s fate is intertwined with theirs. She tries to fight it to no avail. They claimed her and her girls and that’s all there is to it.
She gets a family she never wanted. Friends she never needed. And a lover she never expected. She also suffers loss and has no qualms about killing anybody who stands in her way or threatens her or her girls.

This is the first part in a series and it is not a happy go lucky story.

Wickedly Delish Thoughts: Detailed Reviews

Hello Lovelies! Wickedly Delish Thoughts is my own little corner on Wickedly Delicious Book Blog for book discussions and more.

I have one-click a few novels and read ASAP based on some well detailed reviews. The reviews were not spoilerish by any means. I did feel that they were so detailed in the plot and certain characters background that when I came across these things I already knew going into the book that it actually kind of ruined it a little for me. They were actually moments that would of been nice to experience without knowing. Some of them could of been "Oh My Gosh" or even "Wow" moments, at least for me they would of been if I have not known already. These moments were not huge by any means but for me they would of been enough to get a reaction from me.

I am not bashing detailed reviews, because if it was not for some of these reviews I might not ever read these books or found new authors. Do not worry this was from Amazon and not blogosphere.

Have you ever read a review that was Spoil Free but so detailed that it still managed to spoil a little or lot of the book for you?

by Rebecca Zanetti
Paranormal Romance

Hot ~ Fan Yourself

Caleb Donovan was never meant to be a prophet. At heart he's a conqueror, his appetites far more carnal than spiritual. He's not inclined to repress his passions and surrender to fate. After all, that's what cost him Lily—three centuries ago. She married another, because it was ordained. Now that he's in the same benighted calling—and forced into proximity with her—all the old desires are roaring back to life. . .

After widowhood and centuries of celibacy, Lily is eager to explore the wild side of life, except now she's vulnerable to another forced relationship, with an enemy. But this time she's determined to choose her own path. And if hot, furious Caleb comes charging to the rescue, it might just change both their destinies. . .

Love is about to start conquering. . .

Loved Caleb and Lily together and thought they were a good match for eachother. Caleb is another yummy alpha male hero written well like all others in this series. I did swoon a bit over him as he was more  gentle than others in this series.

I loved her.
I lost her.
But I’m not willing to let her go.

This time, I’m playing for keeps.

I had high expectations for This Time Around. After getting a awesome teaser from Maybe This Time (Maybe #1) and the excerpt at the end in Maybe This Time, I was looking forward to an angsty second chance at love read. Did not get that.

Review/Quote-Tastic: Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde

Silver Bastard (Silver Valley #1)
by Joanna Wylde
Contemporary Romance

Steamy ~ Cold Shower Needed

Blurb
First in the new Silver Valley series from the New York Times bestselling author of the Reapers Motorcycle Club Novels

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward--full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That's when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he'd violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She's been terrified of him ever since, but she's even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from... But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She's living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can't ignore. She has to go back, and there's only one man she can trust to go with her--the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it'll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants...

What  a draw dropping, crazy, gritty opening I did not see coming. It was a perfect set up for the plot with Puck and Becca.

A beard-related dare and one hot-as-hell kiss changes everything.

NFL center Ethan Dexter’s focus has always been on playing football and little else. Except when it comes to one particular woman. Fi doesn’t know what to make of Dex. The bearded, tattooed, mountain of man-muscle looks more like a biker than a football player. Rumor has it he’s a virgin, but she finds that hard to believe. Because from the moment he decides to turn his quiet intensity on her she’s left weak at the knees and aching to see his famous control fully unleashed.

Dex is looking for a forever girl, but they live vastly different lives in separate cities. Fi ought to guard her heart and walk away. But Dex has upped his game and is using all his considerable charm to convince Fi he's her forever man.

Review / Quote-Tastic: Angel's Halo by Terri Anne Browning

Angel's Halo (Angel's Halo MC #1)
by Terri Anne Browning
Length: 166 Pages

Synopsis
Librarian's Note: This is an alternate/new cover for ASIN B00ICP63XI

Creswell Springs was a small town in Trinity Count, California. Population 1,500—maybe. It’s a quiet town, with small town values. Its greatest income is the University just outside of the town limits… and the revenue the local Motorcycle Club brings in.

Being part of the MC that was Angel’s Halo was exactly like being part of a family. A scary, powerful, crazy family. It was also like its own society. There are rules, just as there are in every family, every society. But only breaking one of their rules will leave you in a broken, blood pile on the floor…
No one touches Raven Hannigan.

Raven
I was the MC’s only weakness. Or so my father use to tell me as I was growing up. Mad Max Hannigan was once Angel’s Halos’ president. He made the rules and everyone was expected to follow them or come face to fist with the enforcer…
I have spent my life in the middle of the MC. I knew the rules—the penalties for breaking those rules. So I knew what would happen to him if I let him break the golden rule… But I loved him, like I have never loved anyone or anything before. I thought my love would protect him.
Of course it hadn’t. When our secret was discovered he was beaten.
So I shouldn’t blame him for leaving me…

Bash
As the enforcer I knew the consequences. Knew exactly what was in store for me when Raven’s family found out that I had dared to break my MC’s unforgivable rule. I loved her, so it didn’t matter to me. When her oldest brother delivered my punishment I didn’t scream. Didn’t groan. I took it like the man my MC had made me, and would have done it over and over again if that was what it took to be able to call Raven Hannigan mine.
But then my past reared its ugly head and I had a choice to make. One that I have only lived to regret.
Taking on the job as Angel’s Halos’ new president was my second chance. But… would my secrets destroy everything Raven and I once had?

Review: Unbeloved by Madeline Sheehan

Unbeloved (Uneniable #4)
by Madeline Sheehan

Synopsis
Dorothy Kelley is a born romantic, searching for her prince. Instead she finds herself pregnant at fifteen, and in a loveless marriage by the tender age of eighteen.

Then hope comes riding into her life on a motorcycle and within weeks, Jason “Jase” Brady, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen Motorcycle Club, sweeps Dorothy off her feet.

But nothing is ever simple for Dorothy. Jase is married with children. And as Dorothy patiently waits for Jase to give her the happily-ever-after she’s been dreaming about, James “Hawk” Young, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen with secrets of his own, sees an opening into Dorothy’s life and takes it.

Carrying on two secret affairs is no easy feat. As Dorothy tries to dig herself out of the mess she’s created, covering one mistake with another, tragedy strikes, nearly costing Dorothy her life and that of her unborn son.

What follows is a long and painful journey of self-discovery and forgiveness, as Dorothy comes to realize that home was exactly where she’d left it, and the love she’d forever craved had always been within her reach.

This is the story of Dorothy, Jase, and Hawk.

We are all born pure; it is our journey that burdens us and leads us astray. Our mistakes that beat us down and cover us in guilt and shame, burying us a little more with each passing hardship. It is up to us to dig ourselves out, to come to terms with our faults, to embrace not only our imperfections but those of the ones we love, and to once again find the path we strayed from.

Warning: This is not a conventional or predictable love story. It involves one woman and two men bound by a love so destructive it spans two decades, pitting brother against brother, and shattering the lives of those touched by it.

Brother's Keeper
by Elizabeth Finn

Synopsis
Trapped in a web of hate with no escape, a young woman discovers her attraction to the man determined to protect her may be her undoing. Will time run out, or will he find a way to protect her before her abusive father kills her?

When Rowan is awarded a ballet scholarship to Michigan State University during her senior year of high school, her life’s dream is finally realized. Having lost her mother at an early age and being subjected to the abuse of a destitute drunken father, she has known unimaginable loss and heartache and been left wanting for a better life—a life now within her grasp. But with one ill-fated phone call, her life is turned upside down.

Logan is Rowan's best friend’s older brother whose career is taking off as he prepares to graduate law school and move cross-country to the prestigious law firm that has offered him a very lucrative contract. When Rowan finds herself at Logan’s mercy after he inadvertently learns of the abuse she has suffered at the hands of her father, their lives become intertwined in a way neither ever imagined nor wanted.

In an effort to protect her, but with his own hands tied by her unwillingness to report the abuse, Logan strikes a deal requiring Rowan to stay with him whenever there is a chance her father might be on a drunken binge—which is often. For her agreement and cooperation, he will keep her secret. Soon, their time together weighs on them both, and they find themselves constantly tempted to step outside the bounds of their supposed platonic relationship. But there is no point. The devastating fact of the matter is their lives are moving in opposite directions—a relationship destined to die before it even has a chance to live.

The ever present clock plagues them both as it ticks off the days until they are parted. But one all important question remains—after he leaves, how will he protect her from a father intent on hating her until the day he dies … or the day he kills her?

One of my favorite trope is best friend's older brother. Elizabeth Finn took a trope that has been done many times and turned it into her own. Early on in Brother's Keeper I was already falling in love with both characters. Rowan and Logan felt so real. Elizabeth Finn has a beautiful writing voice.

Synopsis
Enemies. Allies. Lovers.

When her beloved father was assassinated, Lady Aramina swore revenge. The man responsible is well beyond her grasp, but his dangerously seductive heir, Leo Barrons, is fair game. When Mina obtains evidence proving that Leo is illegitimate, she has the means to destroy both the killer and his son, a man who troubles her heart and tempts her body.

A woman of mystery, Mina's long driven Leo crazy with glimpses of a fiery passion that lurks beneath her icy veneer. He knows she's hiding something, and he's determined to unravel her layer by silken layer. He just doesn't expect the beautiful liar to be the key to overthrowing the corrupt prince consort… or to saving his own carefully walled-off heart.

Thoughts:
I am in awe with The London Steampunk covers. I think the new addition is my fav so far. The colors, clothing, font and models stance are eye catching. I have not read an actual Steampunk novel but I am hoping this year to try and give this series a go.
