ARC Review NA: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Hopeless (Hopeless, #1)

Publisher: Atria Books

Blurb by Goodreads

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

Recommended for readers 17+ due to sexual content, harsh language and heavy subject matter.

Wow! I can not believe it has taken me so long to read a Colleen Hoover novel. She is a master story teller with a beautiful writing voice. The twist and turns had me engrossed till the very end. I am now a huge fan of Colleen Hoover and look forward to reading more of her novels.

Now I know what all the hype was about with Holder in the blogosphere. Hands down Holder is the sexiest, swoon worthy hero. Holder is intense and is either angry or charming there is no in between with him. He is passionate about life, love, words, his sister and best of all about Sky.  Loved his character from his sexy tattoo (which was awesome and love what it meant)  to his sweet, caring and a bit of an alpha male attitude.

Sky is what I love in my heroines that are broken on the inside. Loved that she knows she is broken, does not know why, but still has a backbone. She is not over the top whiney or too strong willed. She has her moments of breaking down and if I was in her shoes I would be a complete basket case. Loved that she was able to go head to head with Holder and it was not over the top but perfect with the story line.

I adore Sky's best friend Six. She is spunky and everyone should have a true best friend like her. She was perfect for Sky and loved their scenes together.

I could not swipe my kindle fast enough to see if  Holder and Sky would get their HEA. If any couple in the history of novels deserves a HEA it is Holder and Sky. They are hot-fan-your self together and their scenes are well written.

Even though there is no cliffhanger and has a beautiful ending, I still need more of Holder and Sky. I am begging Colleen Hoover to please make this a series. At least I still have Holder's POV in Losing Hope (Hopeless #2) to get my fix.

I love the blurb as it is mysterious. I have to say I had no idea going in what Hopeless was about and was shocked so many times. Kudos to Colleen Hoover for taking two major issues and creating a powerful story with many layers at a good pace. Be prepared to be shocked and have many tissues handy.

I gently tugged her up against me then before she had time to think or refuse I covered her plump red lips with mine.

She was stiff in my arms for only a moment. Her lips loosened up an she began eagerly kissing me back. I took a small nip on her upper lip then trailed small kisses across her bottom lip and licked each warm corner. When a sigh escaped her mouth, I took complete advantage and slipped my tongue inside the dark warmth of hers.

Review: Rush by Maya Banks

Rush (Breathless, #1)
by Maya Banks
Purchase Link: Amazon

Gabe, Jace, and Ash: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Gabe, it’s making one particular fantasy come true with a woman who was forbidden fruit. Now she’s ripe for the picking...

When Gabe Hamilton saw Mia Crestwell walk into the ballroom for his hotel’s grand opening, he knew he was going to hell for what he had planned. After all, Mia is his best friend’s little sister. Except she’s not so little anymore. And Gabe has waited a long time to act on his desires.

Gabe has starred in Mia’s fantasies more than once, ever since she was a teenager with a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. So what if Gabe’s fourteen years older? Mia knows he’s way out of her league, but her attraction has only grown stronger with time. She’s an adult now, and there’s no reason not to act on her most secret desires.

As Gabe pulls her into his provocative world, she realizes there’s a lot she doesn’t know about him or how exacting his demands can be. Their relationship is intense and obsessive, but as they cross the line from secret sexual odyssey to something deeper, their affair runs the risk of being exposed—and vulnerable to a betrayal far more intimate than either expected.

Huge Fan of Maya Banks and was excited she was coming out with a new series. Was even more excited as Rush starts off The Breathless series with a crush on the older brother best friend.. I am a sucker for that.

Rush is a bit different than her Sweet series. Still has the same BDSM, scorcher-panty-changer love scenes and a sexy couple in the bedroom department, but the hero is different than any of her typical heroes. Yes Gabe is still like her other heroes that she is known to write that are protective with an Alpha Male attitude but his tone was more blunt.  For his reasons he does not do relationships and has anyone he is sleeping with sign a contract. Yes I know first thing came to mind was another 50 story but no it was nothing like that at all.  Maya Banks is the queen of  BDSM novels. He is not a broken character that has to have BDSM as an escape. The ménage scene was different than any of her other ménage scenes but it fit the story line perfect and was heartbroken for Gabe.

I was so engross in the story I read it in one sitting. I had to know who would fall in love first and when her brother found out,  how it would play out. You know when have a older protective brother he is bound to find out that his baby sister is sleeping with his best friend. Not disappointed in both departments. I enjoyed Rush enough to continue The Breathless series. I look forward to seeing what Maya Banks does with Jace and Ash stories.

Burning Wild (Leopard People, #3)
by Christine Feehan

...Her throat was sore from his size and he controlled every move, which was just a little frightening, but also vaguely exciting to her. His fists were tight on either side of her head, as he slid in and out of her mouth, holding himself deep for a few moments and then pulling back just enough so she could breathe.

The phone rang and Emma froze. Jake released one hand from her hair and hit the speaker phone before gripping her hair again and thrusting more gently this time, urging Emma to continue.

"Yes?" His voice was gruff.

Emma smiled, relieved he wasn't casual and unaffected as he acted. Deliberately she swirled her tongue around the flared head, teasing the underside. If he could try to keep his mind on his business while she lay naked, sprawled out on his desk with his shaft sliding erotically down her throat, she was going to make certain it wasn't going to be easy for him.

Thoughts:
What I love most about Christine Feehan  novels is that I never know what the sex scenes will be like. This is one of my favorite scenes.  The "Desk" scene in Burning Wild got me hot and bothered. Lets just say he was not playing fair while he was working and loved that she was able to pay him back. Have to read it to find out how the scene starts and how it ends.

Sample Mondays: Maybe Baby Lite by Andrea Smith

Sample Monday is a meme hosted by Salacious Reads. What a great way to share novels you have downloaded onto your e-reader to give you a taste before you buy it.

Mine this week is Maybe Baby Lite by Andrea Smith. Downloaded the sample last week or week before and have not had the chance to read it. Seen many great reviews for this but still was not sure. I am a sucker for an Alpha Male hero and have a tendency to click the buy it now button way to quick. Then later get so bummed out I was the very rare one who did not like it. Happened way too many times.

Review: The Awakening by Christine Feehan

The Awakening (Leopard People #1)
by Christine Feehan
Fantasy (Midnight #1) Anthology
Purchase Link: Amazon

Under the blazing heat of the Borneo sun......a beautiful naturalist's dream comes true--to live among the feral jungle creatures. But an untamed, irresistible beast of another sort forces her to explore her own wild side.

I am a huge fan of Christine Feehan and The Awakening (Leopard People #1) is a good start to her were-cat shifter series.  Christine Feehan is known for her descriptive writing and she does not hold back in The Awakening short novel. As like  many of her novels you feel like you are there in her setting but at times it can be a bit  long.

Maggie takes a trip through the jungles of Borneo to check out her birth parents house that she has inherited. She finds her self feeling vulnerable and irritated. Here she meets the sexy were-cat shifter Brandt. And learns more then she has ever imagined about her self and her parents.

Since Maggie first set foot in the jungle Brandt has become irritable as she is his mate. The more time he spends with her the more he is becoming possessive and obsessive. Brandt has the  attitude I love in my were-cat shifter heroes. He is arrogant, aggressive but also sweet and caring. He is your sexy alpha male were-cat that will do anything to protect his mate.

Loved Maggie and Brandt together. There are few giggle moments when she tries so hard to stand up to him. The love scene is hot and I do not think I can ever look at a Mango with out thinking of Brandt.

With one look, I’m his . . .

With one touch, he’s mine . . .

With one kiss, it changes everything between us . . .

I’ve been famous since I can remember. Singing, acting, dancing—I’ve done it all. The tabloids cover my every move, but I don’t want that anymore. I want to be normal, whatever that is.

When I leave Hollywood for college in Vermont, I’m on my own for the first time in my life. This is my chance to figure out who I am and what I want in life.

But it’s a lot harder than I expected. I can’t escape my image. Classes are difficult, and I’m struggling. And then there’s Caleb Fox.

Sexy, intriguing Caleb Fox.

Caleb is the one man who doesn’t want to use me. He breaks down my walls. He challenges me. He wants me. And I just don’t know if I can give him the same—or if he’ll stick around when he finds out my shameful secret that the tabloids haven’t managed to uncover.

Dating him is risky enough, but loving him could break me.

Thoughts:
The Cover at Netgalley caught my attention and the blurb sounds interesting. I am curious to what her shameful secret is. Love the cover with the browns and blacks.

Her nipples were hard, poking into the mattress, and her pussy had clenched, quivering in anticipation.

Then he hoisted her ass up so that her knees went beneath her, and he positioned her so her cheek was down on the mattress while her ass was perched in the air, her hands solidly bound behind her back.

His hands smoothed over her behind, caressing and soothing, and then his finger trailed down the cleft of her ass, pausing just at her anal opening. His voice was gravelly, a rough edge to his tone when he spoke.

"I'm looking forward to fucking this sweet ass, Mia. And I will. You're not ready yet, but you will be and I'm going to enjoy every second I'm balls deep inside your pretty ass."

When her quest to find out the secrets of her past leads her to the mountains of North Carolina, she’s set on a collision course with the one man she thought she’d never see again.

In Appalachia consulting on an archeological dig, Anthropologist Dr. Drew Deveraux comes face to face with the indomitable beauty who broke into his apartment a year ago, tilting his carefully cultivated world on its axis.

Engaged in a fight with their demons, both imagined and real, the last thing either of them expected to find was love. Together, they must unravel the mystery of Raven’s past and her connection with an ancient race of witches, in order to save their future—and all of the souls hanging in the balance.

Thoughts:
After reading a swoon moment from Blood In The Valley and seeing the beautiful cover I had to post one day as my F4C pick. Love the font style and how it is above the heroine. Love that the heroine is showing her back with tattoos and the feathers fallen all around her. The blurb got me interested and already added Fire on the Island (Vigilati #1) that also sounds good and has a beautiful cover as well. Do not be surprised if it makes a show on my pick for F4C some day.

What I loved most about Shooting Scars was not only was it a dark read with many surprises with lots of twist and turns but I was surprised by how some scenes had me giggling. There is a huge love triangle in Shooting Scars and loved it. There is the Dark and twisted Javier and the sweet Camden that has a dark side buried deep inside that both want Ellie. I am torn between the two and can not decide if I am Team Javier because, I have a love/hate relationship with him or Team Camden, he is the best for Ellie. These two hate each other. I picked this quote because Camden always surprises me with his actions and comebacks. I find this quote funny because not many people will go head to head with Javier only Ellie and Camden. At this moment I was totally Team Camden.

Well lovelies I hope this will give you a good laugh this Monday as it did for me reading it again for Quote-Tastic.
