New Adult Review: Fall From Grace by Christine Zolendz

I'm finally home after struggling through my brother's illness and death. But, home is definitely a bit different. My best friend (the only person alive now that knows my secret) has a new boyfriend; and he has a friend. Shane Maxton: bad boy, tattooed rock god, eye candy extraordinaire. He is also New York City's most arrogant, self-serving, son of a, well, a definite one-night stand kind of a guy.
But, it doesn't matter to me because I've spent my existence looking for the love of my life, my angel. And, there is nothing that Shane Maxton can do to change that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fall From Grace does not really start picking up till about halfway then about 60 % is when it gets fantastic that I could not put my kindle down. I loved how it is a fresh take on New Adult Paranormal romance. I really can not tell you what Grace is because it will spoil the story but I just wished it was known just a tad bit earlier so the book would of picked up more. I love novels that have a secret but for this it dragged on with no idea what is going on in the plot. The little hints thrown in there were not exciting enough to were I could turn my kindle fast enough. I pretty much had an idea of what she was and to my surprise she was more than I expected.
I did not really connect with the main characters in the beginning. Shane has many layers and loved that about him. His character from the start really did not do a whole lot for me. He comes off as a rocker, tattoo bad boy that has never had any girl tell him no. I do love those kind of heroes but he did nothing in the start that got my stomach tingly. Slowly through out the novel when his layers start coming off I was loving his character. He became the hero I love to read about, jealous, protective, arrogant, sweet with an alpha male attitude and some swoon worthy moments.
“No, Grace. I don’t have a heart. I did once, but I gave it to a girl and I let her keep it when she died.”
It is so hard to write a review for Fall From Grace with out giving any spoilers and to write something about Grace the heroine is even harder. What she has gone through should of broke my heart but was not really feeling her character. Really what annoyed me more with her was her inner thoughts within almost every other paragraph. They took away from what she was feeling because they were silly thoughts.
I really dislike her more when it was clear that Shane was actually starting to show interest in her and not just a one night stand. He was a sweetheart to her, bringing her coffee in the morning just the way she likes it, making her breakfast etc. He was also trying to be a friend to her and she would accept it, then she would become cold accusing him of just trying to get in her pants. She sent so many mixed feelings he did not know where he stood in her life. I understand why she was like this and it has to do with her secret. When she let her guard down and let herself feel something for Shane they were a enjoyable couple with some good moments. The banter between was good. The sexual tensions did not get my heart pumping and stomach all tingly till about half way through the novel. For an New Adult novel the heat factor was more on the warm side.
So many times exclamation marks where used that did not fit in the setting and did take away from the story. I felt the ending was rushed. After about 60% of the novel is when the intensity came in for me. So many OMG, gut wrenching moments, twist and surprises I did not see coming, loved it. I love cliffhangers but I felt Fall From Grace just ended. It really did not even finish its plot. I felt 100 or so pages could of been replaced with continuing the story more on the last 60% of the plot and then end it with something new with a good cliffhanger. Fall From Grace had potential to be a 4 stars - Loved It but it only came as 3 stars - Liked it. It was good enough that I had to buy book 2 ASAP. The novels do not cost that much but at least the first novel in this series should be free during periods of time so customers do not feel they got ripped off and have to buy book 2 just to see how it all plays out. I am glad I took a chance on Fall From Grace and did not give up before the good parts came.
I tried to wrench free, but he held me tight against him with one hand on the small of the back and the other grasping my neck through a fistful of hair.
He gently tugged my hair back and pulled his head down to mine, kissing me once on the lips. He brushed his lips along my cheeks to my ear and whispered with the heat of his breath, "Go ahead Grace, ask me what dreams I wake from at night." He pulled his back and his eyes assaulted me with his fiecre intensity. "I wake up with you as the last thought in my dreams. I dream about your lips, the smell of your skin and hair, and the freaking fire that burns inside of me to be inside you. I want to bury myself inside you and never climb out, my sweet death. Grace,....
OMG!!! I freakin loved this part! Read it a few times. This part got my heart pounding and stomach all tingly. I have my review up if interested to see what I thought of Fall From Grace.
A man she happened to anger by kidnapping a few years back. Hey, it was for a good cause.
Terrent Vilks knows more than he’s let on for the past several years. After digging for answers, he knows exactly why the demons want Maggie dead. And he remembers his past with Maggie…very well. She is finally where he wants her. Now all he has to do is discover what exactly the Kurjans did to her, beat the demons into so much submission they leave her alone, and get her to fall in love with him. Again. When Noel hires the marketing company where Lane is an intern, she’s forced to see him again. If she wants to land her dream job as executive within the company, she has to win him over and secure his account. Too bad Noel is still pissed at her for breaking his heart.
When Lane’s company flies her to a Black Falcon concert to gain Noel’s attention, emotions run high the moment she sees him and realizes she’s far from over him. Then after Lane discloses she needs him to procure a job, Noel proves he’s a changed man by forcing her to go on the road with him in order to get it.
I bow down to Abbi Glines for writing such an intense, emotional, fabulous novel. I thought I would just take a sneak peak at the first few pages and see how her writing style is and to my surprise I was so engrossed in the novel I stopped reading what I was reading and nothing got done in my house as they were suppose to. I read Fallen Too Far in one sitting. Within a few pages I was already shedding a few tears. Fallen Too Far has lies, betrayal and a huge secret that not only I could not turn my kindle fast enough to find out what Rush’s huge secret is but I wanted to see how things were going to go for Rush and Blaire. The characters are so real that they jump off the pages.
Blaire is not your whiney, clumsy, damsel in stress. Loved Blaires character as she is a beautiful and strong will 19 year old. She has had to take care of her sick mom for 3 years, never really had a social life or ever complained. Even when her mother passes away and she really has no family left but her dad who she never really seen growing up takes what life has given her and makes the best out of it. She takes off to stay with her dad with no money and a beat up truck that barely runs. Her dad is not even at the house that he was suppose to be, but her step brother Rush (his mom is married to her dad, but not her dads son) who she has never met is there, owns the house, is a huge jerk to her but finally lets her stay till her dad gets back. He makes her stay in a tiny bedroom under the stairs off the pantry in the kitchen. She never once complains and is thankful that he is letting her stay there. She makes a point to get a job and save up money so she does not put him out. She also does not take any crap from anybody. Not even the rich girls that are snotty to her or even Rush. She has no problem going head to head with him.
Rush was such a jerk in the beginning but he does redeemed himself. But he has a huge secret that everyone in town seems to know about but Blaire. After he redeems himself his secret does make him a jerk again because it breaks Blaire’s heart on so many levels. But I understand why he did what he did and for that reason in my eyes he is a swoon worthy hero. He goes to great lengths to protect his family and broke my heart. Rush is possessive, protective with an alpha male attitude when it comes to family he loves and his lover. He has had a good but rough life too but still had a mom and dad. Even though he was rough around the edges, I still found him sexy with his yummy tattoos, piercing and honesty about how he is which is not easy.
Because he is not easy and does not do serious relationships he finds he can not keep his hands off Blaire. Loved the banter between them and the sexual tension was hot. Love scenes were hot for a New Adult but tasteful. Rush is a sexy lover. Loved them as couple and thought they were perfect for each other. She makes him a better person and enjoyed reading their happy times together. But they are some downs with them and broke my heart. He finds himself addictive to her and jealous but it is not over the top. Once he stops being a jerk I loved how they started having a friendship then slowly builds to a relationship.
Loved the secondary characters as they all play a good role in Fallen Too Far and never take away from the story. Every character has their own voice and personality.
Fallen Too Far flowed nicely. Not once was I ever bored. All scenes are played out well as they were not too long or not too short. Fallen Too Far is Perfect 5 stars. Any novel that can make you feel what the characters are feeling is amazing read. Even though this is a tear jerker they were so many other emotions too. It made me happy and mad. Fallen Too Far is a keeper for me as I would re-read Rush and Blaire’s story over and over again. I look forward to reading Never Too Far (Too Far #2).
Falling in love isn't always easy or pleasant. The intense and angst-filled story of Emma and Scott is a painful, gut-wrenching and exhausting portrayal of how hard it can be to let go...
Picking up the pieces and starting again in the US, Emma enrols in college with her cousin, Ashley. She is finally free to do what she wants and live how she chooses, and no man will ever rule her decisions or emotions again.
That is, until Scott Mason walks on stage...
Intense bad boy Scott is the lead singer of a popular local rock band. A ladies’ man and Ashley's long-time friend, Scott holds an instant fascination for Emma — she finds herself drawn to him, even though he represents everything she hates and needs to stay away from in a guy. He treats females like he does a cigarette — light it, use it, and lose it.
For her cousin's sake, Emma makes an effort to get along with Scott, but she soon discovers that there is more to him than first appears, making him even more dangerous in her eyes. Behind the façade of friendship, jealousy, obsession, fear and insecurity fester — an internal battle rages as she fights her attraction and does everything she can to stop history from repeating itself.
One thing she knows for sure is that if she breaks her rule, it may destroy her.
Warning: Contains mature content — recommended age 17+
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Loved Sedric “ Sed” Lionheart in Backstage Pass but for me his book Rock Hard was 3 stars -Liked It. Rock Hard is full of misunderstandings and drama.

Sed is an alpha male who feels he needs to take care of everyone including the love of his life Jessica. He never thinks before he speaks and this leads to a lot of misunderstanding from Jessica and his band mates. He does not sugarcoat anything, tells it like it is and at times to others he seems to come off as a hard ass. No matter how big the problem is he will be there for his loved ones. That in my eyes is a sexy hero.

I was not a big fan of Jessica with the games she played with Sed’s heart. Loved how she wants to be independent and works hard to get what she wants.

Sed and Jessica were hot together that I thought my poor kindle was going to catch on fire. Even though the sex is scorching I did feel at times it was little over the top and unbelievable. They were big on public sex in Vegas. They were at it in front of the volcano fountain show, Eiffel Tower, Wave Pool and oral play under a table in a restaurant. I love reading about public sexing but for me the volcano fountain show and wave pool scene was over the top unbelievable with tons of people around. As for their relationship there are some ups and downs. Loved the ups and thought they were a sexy couple. The happy moments of them being playful was a joy to read. As for the downs felt bad for Sed, he would say or do something that would mess up with Jessica and her life. It seems like when he would fix one thing with her something else bad would happen.

As always love the secondary characters in this series as they all play a good role in the novels. Trey played a big part in Rock Hard and his scenes broke my heart. Loved when the Sinners were in concert as always Olivia Cunning has a way of writing where you feel like you are right there front and center.

The Tuesday Prelude is a weekly meme hosted by Realms Of An Open Mind. You know we all love to share more than just a few lines, now is your chance to add some of your favorite teasers and introduce a little piece of the story you are currently reading or just read.

Well I am 38% into my kindle for Flight and loving every minute of it. Before Allie found out What Levi is they were different. It was more Levi trying to get to know Allie but Allie always pushed him away. She has sworn off guys becuase of old bad relationships. Now that she has found out what he is she is not pushing him away any more and he seems to be more into her. I am loving the build up to a relationship ( I Hope).

Flight (The Crescent Chronicles #1)
by Alyssa Rose Ivy
New Adult

Levi is a smooth talker.

"I mean you told me you were from here, but don't most people our age want to explore new places?

"Why explore when you have everything you need right here?" His intense gaze impied he was talking about me rather than the city.

Once Allie finds out what he is. I found him to be sweet, caring and thinking of her needs to not push her any further.

"How long have you been out here?"

"Awhile." He straightened up and took a step towards me.

"Oh. You could have knocked..." I trailed off.

"I figured there was no need to push you anymore than I did last night. But I had to see you-to see if you were still reacting well," Levi said carefully, like he was treading on thin ice.

Loving how they see eachother different since he showed her what he is. He is now sweeter and feels connected to her.

He reached over and ran a finger down my cheek. "I'm glad. There's more I want to show you."

He is possessive of her especially when it comes to her name. Everyone calls her Allie but he will not.

Levi moved toward me, practically pinning me against the wall. "Your opinion always counts, but I already told you I'm not calling you what everyone else does. I'm going to have my own name for you."

He seems to be more intense with her now.

"Good, let's go." Still holding my hand, Levi led us to the elevator. We stopped several times to let other people on, but Levi never once took his eyes off me.

Love how he says something and means it but refers to something else. He is sure of himself.

"What makes you think you'll ever see me after this summer"

"You've had your taste Al. Even if you leave in August, you'll be back for more."

"And what are you referring to exactly?"

"The city." He paused to look at me. "Of course."

Why:
What a way to start off my 1st candidate for Fallen For Covers! Really I did not post because of a 24 year old sexy shirtless angel  on the cover. Really I am not drooling.  Ok maybe just a little.  I am reading Flight  (The Crescent Chronicles #1) and loving it. It was so hard to keep my eyes open in the wee hours of the morning. Finally was going to get some shut eye and look to see where I was at in my kindle and WOW to my surprise I was already at 30%. I loved the cover for the Flight but am loving Found so much more. I am assuming Levi is an Angel. Looks like it on the cover, but have not found out what he is yet. So far a Crow has played a roll in Flight but not sure if his wings are angel or crow. Look forward to find out what he is.
